Saturday 24th Sept | 11.30 am
Venue: Parish Hall

Seamus Ennis called Elizabeth Cronin, ‘The Queen of Irish Song’, so it’s time for us to celebrate the singing of Bess, who hailed from Ballyvourney. So come join us in a session hosted by Tríona Ní Shíocháin, Professor of Modern Irish and Performing Arts in Maynooth University, with a mix of exceptional singers from the area: Maire Ní Chéileachair, Danny Maidhcí Ó Súilleabháin, and three of Bess’s Granddaughters: Eilís Bean Úi Thuama, and her sisters Josie and Maighréad.
We will also have a special guest lecture on her life and music given by her grandson Dáibhí Ó Cróinín, recently retired Professor of Medieval History at NUIG and author of the collection The Songs of Elizabeth Cronin, Irish Traditional Singer
