Iarla Ó Lionáird has long been recognised for his mastery of sean nós singing but his career has also been one of constant innovation and risk-taking spanning the Afro Celt Sound System, collaborations with composers such as Gavin Bryars and Donnacha Dennehy and latterly with his membership of the internationally acclaimed ensemble, The Gloaming. He grew up in the Irish speaking area of Cuil Aodha in West Cork and his singing was recognised as being exceptional from a young age. His output in recent years has included both ancient and modern Irish language poetry adapted by him into songs with the collaboration of Thomas Bartlett as part of The Gloaming.
Australian born Steve Cooney has been a mainstay on the Irish music scene since the 1980s. His guitar playing has featured on many Irish albums and has enhanced countless memorable gigs across a myriad of genres. He is a noted expert on the music of Canon James Goodman and is a much sought after producer, arranger and composer and he has released a number of fine albums of his own music.
