Dr Tríona Ní Shíocháin is a whistle-player, singer and interdisciplinary scholar specialising in Irish traditional music, sean-nós singing, Irish-language song composers, oral theory, oral composition and transmission, performance theory, ethnomusicology and anthropology, and Irish-language literature, poetry and culture. She graduated with a first class honours degree in Music and Irish from UCC in 2002, and was awarded a PhD for her research on the songs of celebrated nineteenth-century song composer, Máire Bhuí Ní Laeire, in 2008 (UCC). She was appointed as Lecturer in Irish Traditional Music at UCC in 2017.

Come play with your sound and the harmonic possibilities of the human voice. Our bodies love the sound of our own voices. In this workshop we will use the vowel sounds throughout the body to access the vast harmonic possibilities of the voice.
Take a journey in sound to experience the magic of toning together with deep listening and pure intention. This workshop is open to all with and without singing experience. Bring an open mind and a sense of adventure.
